Is celebrating birthdays Halaal or Haraam?

The celebration of birthdays is a custom of the kuffaar, hence it will be impermissible for us as Muslims to celebrate. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said :
The one who emulates a group of people will be counted as from among them.
The celebration of birthdays is a foolish act of the kuffaar. As a Muslim one should ponder about the Aakhirah, one needs to come to the realization that every day is a new day being lived and each day is taking you closer to the day of your death. May Allah taala grant us the understanding and allow us to live a long life serving Him and His messenger and grant us death with Imaan. Ameen!
