Question
Rejectors of prophetic narrations (munkir hadith) are saying that even Hadeeth says that Nabi SallallahuAlayhiWasalam left behind only the Qur’an. What is our response to these hadith rejectors?
Shaddad bin Ma’qil and I entered upon Ibn `Abbas. Shaddad bin Ma’qil asked him, “Did the Prophet (ﷺ) leave anything (besides the Qur’an)?” He replied. “He did not leave anything except what is Between the two bindings (of the Qur’an).” Then we visited Muhammad bin Al-Hanafiyya and asked him (the same question). He replied, “The Prophet (ﷺ) did not leave except what is between the bindings (of the Qur’an).
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَشَدَّادُ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ، عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضى الله عنهما فَقَالَ لَهُ شَدَّادُ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ أَتَرَكَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ شَىْءٍ قَالَ مَا تَرَكَ إِلاَّ مَا بَيْنَ الدَّفَّتَيْنِ. قَالَ وَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ فَقَالَ مَا تَرَكَ إِلاَّ مَا بَيْنَ الدَّفَّتَيْنِ.

The statement of Ibn Abbas R.A “He did not leave anything except what is Between the two bindings (of the Qur’an)”,was brought by Imaam Bukhari R.A to refute the Shiahs who falsely claim that a portion of the Quraan is missing (ونعوذ بالله ). He R.A is explaining that the entire Quraan was left by Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم without anything missing. This statement of Ibn Abbas R.A does not reject hadith as a proof but rather establishes it.
The Quraan clearly states
“وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا ”
And whatsoever the messenger giveth you, take it. And whatsoever he forbiddeth, abstain (from it).
وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى * إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى
He does not speak out of (his own) desire.
It is but revelation revealed (to him).
ويعلمهم الكتاب والحكمة ويزكيهم إنك أنت العزيز الحكيم
and teach them the Book and the wisdom(Hadith), and cleanse them of all impurities. Indeed You, and You alone, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise
يا أيها الذين آمنوا أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول
O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger
قل إن كنتم تحبون الله فاتبعوني يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّه
Say (O Prophet): “If you really love Allah, then follow me, and Allah shall love you
