The question I have is wrt digital picture (video, Livestream, photo etc)
Is this permissible?
If not why?
What is the basis of the difference of opinion between moulanas on this issue?
Hypothetically speaking if it was permissible then would there be limitations in it’s application? What would those be?
Is there any literature I can read to better understand this issue?
Answer
1.1 All forms of photography is impermissible irrespective of whether it is digital or not. The reason why it is impermissible is because Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم said “May Allah Ta’alas curse be upon the one who creates tasweer and for whom it was made for”
1.2 The basis of the difference is whether a tasweer will only be considered to be a tasweer if it is tangible.
1.3 We do not pay any attention to hypothetical things in Shariah
1.4Follow upright righteous Ulema and leave the technical academic debate for them.
